Varför läser jag svenska?

Raymond Chen
Raymond Chen

(Even if you don't read Swedish, you may enjoy the links at the end.) Några personer har frågat mig varför jag läser svenska. Historien börjar för många år sedan. Jag läste tidningen och såg att det fanns avgiftsfria norskalektioner i Ballard kyrkans källaren. (Ballard är en d...

Raymond Chen
Raymond Chen

Batman and Robin have been spotted in Whitley, providing valuable services like rescuing damsels in distress (pushing her car to the nearest petrol station), scaring away potential muggers, and even chasing streakers off a football pitch.

Dead man running

Raymond Chen
Raymond Chen

Though apparently this isn't the first time. (People are usually declared dead by conniving relatives who want to claim their inheritance prematurely.) I wish him luck. If it...

Truckers block highway to protest high gas prices

Raymond Chen
Raymond Chen

To protest rising gasoline prices, a group of truckers abandoned their vehicles in the middle of the highway. It struck me as odd that a country that brims with anti-French rhetoric would adopt one of their protest techniques. Presumably they don't want French gasoline prices either.

Raymond Chen

You can buy 510 grams of peanut butter for only $501. Of course, this is special peanut butter. It must be kept at -20°C. And it is not intended for human consumption. This is peanut butter from the National Institute of Standards and Technology intended for use by food analysis laboratories to calibrate their equipment. For examp...

What, going to Sweden *again*?

Raymond Chen
Raymond Chen

It appears that I will have an opportunity to visit Sweden during the first week of June. I'll have three days in Uppsala and three days in Lund, with a travel day in between. Now, I've already spent a week and a half in Uppsala, so perhaps I could spend the Uppsala days taking a ferry to Helsinki and back. (And I could visit Denmark from L...
