ยท How long have you been using VB?
I first started with VB3 when it was released in 1993. After working many years in the real-time / embedded space, I had spent the previous half year learning Windows programming in C (Petzold). When a friend of mine told me that VB3 was “the greatest thing since sliced bread” I checked it out and haven’t looked back since.
ยท What industry do you work in?
I/we have worked across many different industries, including medical, financial, robotics, real-estate, and web applications.
ยท How big is your development team?
Usually falls in the range of 1-5 developers.
ยท What kind of apps do you most commonly build?
Windows (Winforms), Web, and messaging.
ยท Whatโs the most interesting app youโve ever built?
They’ve all been interesting ๐ But perhaps the most memorable was a VB6 application that was a development environment for robotics programs. It included an IDE, language compiler, and real-time debugger — all developed in VB6.
ยท Please tell us about an app that youโre working on at the moment.
We are currently developing a high-throughput messaging and database system for the medical information field.
ยท What other technologies do you most commonly use?
SQL Server, MSMQ, Web Services, and C#.
ยท What are some of your favorite VB features?
Background compile, MY, and LINQ.
ยท What do you like most about VB as a programming language?
Readability and the undying passion of its developer community.
