In this episode of the Azure Government video series, Steve Michelotti, principal program manager, Microsoft Azure Government, sits down with Vishwas Lele, CTO, AIS, to discuss migrating and modernizing with Kubernetes on Azure Government.
The discussion begins with Vishwas explaining the “traditional” approaches for migrating workloads to the cloud: (1) Rehost (lift-n-shift), (2) Refactor (PaaS approach) and (3) Reimagine (cloud-native rewrite). Each of these traditional approaches has pros and cons.
Vishwas then explains how Kubernetes provides an opportunity to fundamentally rethink these traditional approaches to cloud migration by leveraging Kubernetes in order to get the “best of all worlds” in the migration journey. In this demo-heavy video, Vishwas provides many examples of this approach in practice with discussion along the way. If your agency is looking to migrate your existing legacy workloads to the cloud, while minimizing code changes and taking advantage of innovative cloud-native technologies, this is the first video you should watch!

In the video above, we used AKS + ACI because at that time AKS did support WIndows nodes.
Now that AKS supports Windows nodes, I updated our demo to include that capability.
