In my recent interactions with customers, many have expressed that their teams are struggling to get started correctly with microservices applications. Questions I often get are:

  • What are the architecture fundamentals my team should be aware of?
  • What are the supporting technologies my team should understand deeply?
  • How do I organize my product code base, delivery pipelines and feature teams to achieve a “true” microservices implementation?

I decided to take a shot at providing guidance around how to achieve the goals listed here. In this first part we will start by taking a look at a technology at the heart of the micro services transformation: Containers.
