Interview with a DAW Developer: Noel Borthwick from Cakewalk

Pete Brown
Principal Software Engineer

I co-host a podcast with Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, a DAW PC OEM, friend, and creator of the DAWbench musician-focused benchmarking suite. As part of the show, we’ve been interviewing DAW software developers to learn about their personal history, the history of their products, and the technology involved. The series is the “DAW Evolution” series.

This week, we interviewed Noel Borthwick of Cakewalk by Bandlab. Check it out here.

I’ve co-presented with Noel in the past, at Build, where he even live-compiled Cakewalk on the stage to show the audience the code. He’s a great developer and a fun guy. Be sure to check it out!

Before I joined Vin on the podcast, he also interviewed Justin Frankel of Reaper.

We have more developer interviews coming up in the future. These are really fun and I learn a lot. Plus, we all get to geek out on the tech.
