With Private Marketplace for Visual Studio, organizations can:
- Host and distribute private extensions within their organization
- Centrally configure and enforce a Private Marketplace
- Control which extensions are surfaced through the Visual Studio marketplace experience

The Private Visual Studio Marketplace looks very intriguing. I've got two questions for you.
First, is this only for Visual Studio administrators in an enterprise environment? If so, I can join this at work. But I would still love to join this, but here at home, as a private individual. It is more likely that I would author a Visual Studio Extension here at home, and not at all likely at work.
Second, if I were to join at work, it would only be so I can watch what's going on, as I'm certain my employer would not condone anyone writing a...

Thanks for the interest! The feature will eventually become available to everyone, but for the initial preview we’re primarily looking to partner with organizations.
Also, organizations don’t need to be authoring or hosting their own extensions to benefit from Private Marketplace. For instance, one of the scenarios we are looking to enable is helping organizations govern extension acquisition by leveraging allowlists to manage which extensions are available to developers and align with organizational policies.
So participation isn’t limited to organizations that publish internal extensions.
We host our own Private VS Extention Gallery with an Atom RSS feed for some internally developed extentions. Would be nice to have hosting built into Azure Devops Server instead, with option for upstream source just like NuGet etc.
Yes, while we don’t have updated documentation yet, you should be able to host a Private Marketplace instance in Azure or other cloud providers, just as described in the VS Code documentation.

Thanks for your reply, but I think you misunderstood my suggestion. I mean like an Artifact in Azure Devops Server, not as a normal Private VS Extention Gallery.
