A difference between cricket and baseball that most people don’t mention

I noted that I would be taking some friends to their first baseball game. They are from Commonwealth countries, so cricket is the bat-and-ball game of choice there. We had fun comparing the two games.

During the game, a spectator ran onto the field and was chased and tackled by security. One of my friends remarked, “That’s another difference between cricket and baseball. In cricket, that guy would have been naked.”

Bonus reading: Running the Field: Don’t Do It, the first-hand story of a fan who ran onto the field.

Author

Raymond has been involved in the evolution of Windows for more than 30 years. In 2003, he began a Web site known as The Old New Thing which has grown in popularity far beyond his wildest imagination, a development which still gives him the heebie-jeebies. The Web site spawned a book, coincidentally also titled The Old New Thing (Addison Wesley 2007). He occasionally appears on the Windows Dev Docs Twitter account to tell stories which convey no useful information.
