HackTogether: the Microsoft Teams Global Hack ends, but the developer journey continues!

Ayca Bas

On June 15th, we closed out HackTogether: the Microsoft Teams Global Hack – the hackathon where developers learned how to build apps for Microsoft Teams and submitted hacks for a chance to win exciting prizes.

What happened in the last week of the Microsoft Teams Global Hack?

The final week of the hackathon started with an Ask the Experts session that hosted experts from the Microsoft engineering teams to answer questions live! We closed out the week with a wrap up and take action session where we got to know the community and shared how to be a part of it!

June 12, 2023 | Ask the experts: Meet our engineering team and ask your pressing questions!

In this session, we gathered together with experts from different Microsoft product engineering groups to get to know them and answer questions from the developers live! We discussed everything about building apps for Microsoft Teams.

  • David Rousset (Principal Product Manager for Teams Toolkit) helped us answer all questions related to building apps for Teams, Teams Toolkit and shared the best features of Teams Toolkit with developers.
  • Steve Ickman (Principal Architect for Teams AI library) and Ankit Govil (Senior Product Manager for Teams AI library) joined us to answer questions related to OpenAI and the new Teams AI library.
  • Gavin Barron (Principal Software Engineer for Microsoft Graph) covered questions related to Microsoft Graph and authentication.
  • Luca Bandinelli (Principal PM Architect for SharePoint) answered everything about SharePoint Framework and how to integrate your Teams apps with SharePoint Framework.

June 15, 2023 | Wrap up and take action: Join our community for the next big thing!

In this session, we closed out the hackathon and talked about the next steps: the community! David Warner (Senior Program Manager) and Hugo Bernier (Principal Program Manager) joined us to talk about where developers’ journey can continue, and opportunities in the community! We met the community members and MVPs to learn their stories, how they joined the community in the first place and learned from others, found opportunities to share their knowledge to give it back.
