Azure Cosmos DB already delivers 99.999% availability with multi-region write capability and continuous backup for point-in-time restores within a 7 or 30 day retention period. Now, we’re making it even better!

Going forward –
- You can migrate existing single region write region with point in time restore capability to support multi-region write.
- You can enable point in time restore capability on existing multi-region write account.
- You can create a new account with these capabilities out of the box.
- And of course you can perform normal point in time restore.
There are no special charges – the existing point in time charges for backup, restore and multi region write cost continue.
Please check out the documentation about multi-region writes, point in time restore capability

About Azure Cosmos DB
Azure Cosmos DB is a fully managed and serverless NoSQL and vector database for modern app development, including AI applications. With its SLA-backed speed and availability as well as instant dynamic scalability, it is ideal for real-time NoSQL and MongoDB applications that require high performance and distributed computing over massive volumes of NoSQL and vector data.

What is the status of this feature compatibility? Is this now all GA? (I don't see any mention of "preview" either in this article or in the portal UI?)
So the bullet point "Multi region write accounts support for point in time restore is in preview." here should be removed? (as well as in the title "Understanding Multi-region write account restore (preview)"?)
When choosing either of the migration options
* You can migrate existing single region write region with point in time restore capability to support multi-region write.
* You can enable point in time restore capability on existing multi-region write...
Thanks Martin, for the feedback and expressing interest, this feature is GA. The time to migrate will be tad higher depending on number of writes which happen in the satellite region so that tentative writes can be caught up (this only applies to exiting multi region write account which needs migration to continuous backup) – but there is no availability impact on the application and it is an async process.
