Azure Cosmos DB powers some of the world’s most popular intelligent apps like ChatGPT. In a recent hackathon, Over 9,500 developers engaged with Azure Cosmos DB and Azure AI services, making it one of the most popular on Devpost, ranking in the top 0.2% of all Devpost hackathons. 

Participants explored AI fundamentals and built their own AI applications using Azure. We’re excited to showcase the top three winners, who leveraged Azure Cosmos DB and Azure AI to address diverse use cases, including acing job interviews, streamlining video editing, and offering insightful dietary recommendations. We also want to highlight the honorable mention projects from this impressive competition.

Inspired by personal struggles with job interviews and seeing others miss opportunities due to poor preparation, UHIRED helps users efficiently prepare for interviews by practicing responses, receiving real-time feedback, and getting tailored recommendations to communicate their skills and expertise clearly, based on the candidate’s job description. TourMate: Your Personal AI Travel Concierge

TourMate is an AI-powered chatbot designed to simplify travel planning by offering personalized tour package recommendations based on individual preferences. Inspired by the frustration of navigating overwhelming travel options, TourMate uses AI and rich datasets to tailor travel suggestions, making planning easier and more enjoyable. Through building TourMate, the team learned to integrate diverse data sources, create meaningful embeddings, and leverage GPT models to develop a responsive and intelligent chatbot that enhances the travel planning experience. This app simplifies travel planning by allowing users to view and manage their itineraries on an interactive map, complete with directions and personalized location suggestions from a chatbot. It provides the flexibility to add, rearrange, and edit destinations, ensuring that travel plans are perfectly tailored to individual preferences. Built with React and TypeScript, the app’s backend uses Node.js and Azure services, integrating LangChain, Azure Cosmos DB, and Google Maps API to deliver a seamless and efficient itinerary management experience. ASAP is an AI-powered platform that revolutionizes tech documentation and code creation by providing a suite of copilots. These copilots can generate code and documentation in minutes, quickly retrieve information using natural language search, and publish reports almost instantaneously. Tailored to an organization’s standards with custom ontologies, ASAP combines AI’s speed and efficiency with the reliability of traditional systems, creating a seamless and unified workspace for tech professionals. AI4KBAgent™: A ServiceNow KB CoPilot Powered by GenAI

AI4KBAgent™ CoPilot is an AI-driven tool designed to enhance knowledge base (KB) articles by refining content based on user inputs. Content developers start by submitting a title and additional information, and the app uses a multi-step agentic approach to generate the document. It plans the article, creates a title, summary, category, and sections, and iteratively generates and critiques content for each section through configurable feedback loops. Once completed, the draft is saved in Azure Cosmos DB, where users can edit, approve, or publish it. Upon publishing, it triggers a ServiceNow API call to create a KB article and notifies teams via Microsoft Teams and email. Learn more

Lego Robot AI enhances the learning experience by enabling students to generate and execute Python code for their Lego robots directly through a web browser. This integration helps young learners grasp coding concepts by watching their robots come to life in real-time. The app also includes a Lego Brick Image Library for finding similar bricks through image search, speech conversation support for easier interaction, live user chat for communication between kids and teachers, and image generation/descriptions to inspire and assist in building Lego robots. Klerk is a multilingual assistant designed to streamline interactions with government services worldwide. Users can upload documents or input queries, select a target language, and receive translated, context-aware responses. Powered by Azure Cosmos DB vector search, Klerk ensures accurate and relevant responses across a wide range of Indian regional and international languages, making it a versatile tool for diverse linguistic needs. AgriHealth

This tool empowers farmers and agricultural stakeholders to protect against diseases in crops and livestock. By analyzing images of agricultural produce, it predicts the health status of crops or livestock and, using a GPT model powered by Azure, provides real-time suggestions to mitigate identified diseases. Meta-Store-AI

This app was inspired by the complexity of 3D model viewers and the effectiveness of AI agents in Microsoft tools. Drawing from his experience with embedded code in 3D models, Meta-Store-AI aimed to create an AI agent that simplifies interactions by using natural language for model exploration and providing tailored user experiences. Meta-Store-AI envisioned the AI agent functioning like a customer service rep, interacting directly with the 3D viewer and responding to user actions. Learn more
