Visual Studio a leader in software quality suites

Brian Harry

Visual Studio has always been a great tool for developers.  In 2010, as we continued to expand the breadth of our Application Lifecycle Management suite, we made our first foray into tooling specifically for testers with Visual Studio Test Professional.  Thus started a journey to really incorporate testers into the application lifecycle, enabling teams to deliver higher quality software faster. In our 2012 wave of products we expanded our testing offering beyond traditional test case management, manual testing, automation, etc with a new set of tooling aimed at helping Agile teams move their testing practices forward.  And in 2013 we’ve focused primarily on listening closely to customers trying to adopt our testing tools and addressing the top issues they hit.  This has been a very iterative process with improvements in 2012.1, 2012.2, 2012.3 and now in 2013. Last week, it was heartening to see the latest Gartner report on Integrated Software Quality Suites placed Microsoft in the leader quadrant.  This is the first time Gartner has placed us in the leader quadrant in this particular report and I’m very excited about it.  I view it as recognition of the progress that we’ve made over the past few years as we’ve continued to invest in our quality tooling. It’s nice to see hard work recognized 🙂 Brian *Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Integrated Software Quality Suites, T. E. Murphy, N.
