As part of our work to improve VS performance after VS 2010 beta 2, we’ve done a ton of analysis of VS in various scenarios. One of them is VS over remote desk top. We’ve made a number of fixes to improve the performance but there are also some things you can do to configure remote desktop in ways that are significantly less bandwidth intensive and will make your experience better. Jossef wrote a blog post about this recently that you might want to check out if you use RDP a lot: http://blogs.msdn.com/jgoldb/archive/2010/02/27/optimizing-visual-studio-2010-and-wpf-applications-for-remote-desktop.aspx
