As we enter the New Year, many government agencies continue to resolve to take advantage of cloud computing. However, oftentimes, agencies find that they are stuck, unprepared and seeking ways to help them transition to the cloud.  

With these challenges in mind the Microsoft Azure Government DC User Community is kicking off 2017 with a can’t-miss Meetup, How to Jumpstart Your Move to the Cloud – Gov Edition, on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at 1776 in Washington, DC.

Getting Past Go: Accelerate Your App Deployments to the Cloud (Level 100) 

David Simsik, cloud practice manager for Accelera will present government use cases and best practices for getting started with cloud. Dave will share real-world experiences and insights for successful enterprise onboarding to the government cloud. In discussing approaches to hybrid cloud, he will also highlight solutions that can help ease your cloud transition and accelerate deployment of workloads to the cloud. 

Azure Gov Training Resources and Strategies (Level 100-200) 

Dan Patrick, chief cloud strategist for Opsgility, will provide insight to training resources and strategies on getting started on Azure and to help ensure your success with cloud. Dan is an industry-leading instructor for Opsgility, a cloud-first enterprise training company. He is also an Azure MVP. 

Tech Demo: Getting Started on Azure Gov—It’s Quick and Easy! (Level 200) 

Brian Harrison, cloud solution architect from Microsoft, will show you how to get up and running in a dev environment as quickly as possible. During this technical demo, Brian will show you options for various projects (software, web, mobile) you may have that need to be deployed in Azure Government. Brian will also be available following presentations for those who want a deeper, technical dive. 

Vishwas Lele, chief technology officer of AIS and Azure MVP, will also conduct a demo of a Service Catalog which is designed to ease cloud adoption for federal agencies.
