Generally available, securing your data with Storage Service Encryption

We are happy to announce the general availability of Storage Service Encryption (SSE) for data at rest in Azure Government storage accounts. SSE enables customers to meet a comprehensive set of security and compliance requirements meeting government organizational needs.

With this feature, Azure Storage automatically encrypts your data prior to it persisting to storage using 256-bit AES encryption, one of the strongest block ciphers available. Data is decrypted by the storage service before being returned, enabling you to secure your data without having to modify code or add code to any applications.

For more information on SSE, you can check out either Storage Service Encryption with Service Managed Keys or Storage Security Guide: Encryption at Rest
