Announcing the HackTogether: Power Platform Global AI Hack Winners

April Dunnam

We’re excited to announce the winners of HackTogether: The Power Platform Global AI Hack

What is #HackTogether?

In this HackTogether we got the opportunity to see the power of AI Copilots in the Power Platform. We learned from advocates and other experts about Copilots, AI Builder, using Azure OpenAI service, and we even got a tutorial on using GitHub so you can share your AI powered Power Platform solutions with the community. We also heard from VP of Power Apps, Ryan Cunningham, and VP of Power Automate, Stephan Siciliano, about their experiences and thoughts about where they see this AI integration taking us and transforming how we develop solutions.

And most importantly – You learned, you hacked, you innovated. You are all now official Power Platform AI hackers!

The winners

We received some amazing submissions and were truly impressed with your creativity. We had a difficult task in narrowing it down to just 4 winners amongst the 115 submissions. We appreciate that everyone has their own journey with technology: while some have been working with Power Platform for years, others are just beginning.

When judging the submissions, we looked at how innovative the solution is, how it help users and how it delivers on the promise of its category (AI use case, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion use case and Better Together use case). And while you are all winners in our eyes, we selected the following as the winners:

🏆 Grand prize winner: Teaching Accelerator

This solution focuses on how AI can help teachers with lesson planning. It features many Power Platform components including a Model Driven Power App, Custom Pages, Power Virtual Agents bot and Power Automate Flows. This Power Platform solution saves 1000’s of hours for teachers by letting them leverage an embedded Power Virtual Agents bot (powered by GPT) to help create lesson plans which are stored in Dataverse and accessed in a Power App.

Our judges were blown away by the impact that this solution can have for the education space and the mix of technology used. Big congratulations to Elliot Fraser for creating this powerful solution and taking the grand prize!

🏅 Best AI-powered solution: Seeker

Imagine you are in charge of hiring for a company. You have to deal with hundreds of resumes, screen and interview candidates, and find the best fit for the job. What if we told you there is a way to make this process easier and faster, using AI? Seeker leverages Power Pages to let you upload a job description and your resume and uses GPT to create a list of interview questions and conducts the interview through a voice call, without any human intervention.

Our judges were very impressed with the unique use of Power Pages and AI. There is a lot going on behind the scenes with this solution with integration with Power Automate and AI Builder models to extract text from resume and use the GPT model to create open ended interview questions. There’s additional integration with Azure Communications Services for handling the calling functionality and text-to-speech and speech-to-text to translate and respond to requests.

Congratulations to Daniel Kerridge, Isabelle Gaboc, and Jady Mulqueeney for this transformational AI use case!

🏅 Best Better Together Use Case: Codescribe

Do you ever wish there was a way to automate code reviews? Codescribe does just that! With this solution you paste a snippet of code into a Power App and it leverages Azure OpenAI to analyze the code. It returns two outputs: a code summary that gives you a quick overview of what the code does, and a commented code block that explains each step of the code in detail. All this happens within your organization’s network, so the data is safe and secure.

The judges were impressed with the combination of Power Platform and custom Azure OpenAI models used to help with the dreaded task of documenting code. Congratulations to Robert Perillo for this great Azure + Power Platform “Better Together” use case!

🏅 Best DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Use Case winner: Make Life Easy

This app is a specialized Power Apps canvas app designed to support parents of autistic children and their daily routines. The app’s primary goal is to simplify and enhance the lives of both parents and children by supplying visual and text-based guidance for various daily activities. Some of the features of the apps are visual and text-based task lists. Customizable activities, scheduling, accessibility features, user friendly design, and feedback and improvement.

The judges loved that the Power App connects to DALL-E to generate the images used and Azure OpenAI to create the list of steps. And most importantly, the judges loved the use case of helping kids with autism and their parents. Congratulations to Raghav Mishra for this impactful solution!
