What went Generally Available (GA) since February 2025?
Microsoft Entra External ID: Custom OpenID Connect (OIDC) external identity provider support – Enables federation of sign-in and sign-up flows with identity providers (IdPs) that conform to the OAuth 2.0 authorization standard and the OIDC protocol. It enables Microsoft Entra External ID users to access customer applications with their accounts from other IdPs.
New Public Previews
Limit creation or promotion of multi-tenant apps: Admins can now configure tenant default or custom app policy using the new audiences restriction to block new app creation if the signInAudience value provided in the app is not permitted by the policy. In addition, existing apps can be restricted from changing their signInAudience if the target value is not permitted by the policy. These policy changes are applied during app creation or update operations, offering control over application deployment and usage.
News, updates, and resources
As we communicated in 2024, we will end sale of Azure AD External Identities P1 & P2 to new customers on May 1, 2025. New customers can benefit from our next-gen Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solution Microsoft Entra External ID. Existing customers can continue to create new Azure AD B2C tenants and operate as normal. The only upcoming change to Azure AD B2C is as follows:
-
Until March 15, 2026: Customers on P2 today can continue to use P2/ID Protection and will continue to be charged for P2 unless they choose to switch to Azure AD External Identities P1.
-
Starting March 15, 2026: P2/ID Protection will be retired in B2C tenants. Customers will automatically be moved to Azure AD External Identities P1 and will still be able to use ID Protection for business guests in workforce tenants.
