Core Platform Driver

The Core Platform Driver team is seeking talented engineers who are excited to work on state-of-the-art gaming platform. Our diverse team works at the intersection of hardware and software to provide industry-leading game development technology. Working closely with hardware engineers and game developers, we define the future of graphics and game development.

  • Senior Development Engineer, Redmond WA – Candidates with hands on experience with power management within an OS platform (Windows, Linux, iOS) and/or experience within the graphics stack (Graphics engine, runtime, driver, microcode, hardware). Xbox Graphics The Xbox Graphics Team focuses on end-to-end state of the art graphics, from concept through hardware design and core software such as drivers and low-level tools. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer and a Software Engineer II with experience in graphics APIs, drivers, and hardware.

 

xPU Kernel

Join the core team driving innovation at the intersection of AI,  heterogenous accelerators, and operating systems!  The xPU Kernel team drives the evolution of the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) and the Microsoft Compute Driver Model (MCDM), and designs the Windows infrastructure and driver interfaces for submitting workloads, managing memory content, negotiating power states, orchestrating virtualizations, and other device management tasks on graphics and AI accelerators. As a Software Engineer on our team, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of low-level systems — enabling next-generation AI, graphics and media experiences on Microsoft platforms.

Software Engineer II, Redmond WA –   We’re looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about OS kernel and heterogenous compute technology and has experience working on system level programming. You will work with industry partners to identify data-driven opportunities for critical new features, understand the hardware capabilities, define the OS abstractions to expose these features, and ultimately drive convergence of OS and driver implementations to deliver the feature to the world. Xbox Video

The Xbox Video team is looking for a Senior Software Design Engineer who is passionate about video and is excited to work on cutting edge hardware. We are responsible for all things video related on Xbox and beyond! You will be working on low-level drivers and firmware interacting with the state-of-the-art graphics and video hardware as well as a variety of video technologies including but not limited to video encode, decode, color processing, motion estimation, rate control etc. You will be a member of an experienced team that is responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners to solve challenging problems in the area of Xbox video. Good understanding of general media concepts is valuable, should be comfortable working on driver and firmware-level code.

 

CoreOS Display

Help Microsoft define the next generation of technologies and features available on GPUs and Displays! The CoreOS Display team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational components that power display functionality across the Windows ecosystem. This includes developing various cutting-edge technologies like Variable Refresh Rate, HDR/Dolby Vision, Night light and color calibration, Remote Desktop, USB Displays, Multi-display support etc. The team works closely with hardware partners to ensure high performance, reliability, power efficiency and seamless display user experiences across local and cloud-based environments. Our components power innovations in Gaming, Media, AI and beyond.

Principal Software Engineer, Redmond WA –  You will work with industry partners to identify new opportunities for driving the display ecosystem forward with critical (and exciting) new features. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to understand the user requirements as well as hardware capabilities, define the OS abstractions to expose new features/capabilities and deliver end-to-end solutions for our customers. You will build a deep technical ownership over the feature spaces you work in, and your expertise will help other teams – both inside and outside of Microsoft – deliver valuable products built on your work. Codec and Cloud Media

Demand for high quality real time streaming in cloud hosted environments is continuing to grow rapidly. The Codec and Cloud Media team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. Design/development of stream stack components hosted on both Virtual Machine (VM) and client. Candidates have a track record as a developer delivering complete, high-quality design and implementation and an aptitude for driving features across divisions and groups. Technical passion, cross-group partnership skills, ability for self-direction, a focus on quality software through appropriate tests, and aptitude for design are the most important competencies.
