Top Stories from the Microsoft DevOps Community – 2019.01.18

Lots of big news coming from the Azure DevOps team this week: we’ve announced a bounty for security researchers and announced a partnership with Service Now. But there’s also some great reading coming from the Azure DevOps community – here’s some of the nice articles that I found this week:

DTAP is dead Wouter de Kort argues that the traditional deployment flow from Development to Test to Acceptance environment to Production (DTAP) is too restrictive, and doesn’t always make sense in a modern DevOps pipeline.

Azure Cost Insights Widget (Video) Want to see your Azure spending right from your Azure DevOps dashboard? There’s a widget for that. Kees Schollaart put together this video to introduce the Azure Cost Insights widget.

The dev.azure.com URL If you’ve been using Azure DevOps since before it was Azure DevOps, you might still have “visualstudio.com” in your URLs. Want the shiny new “dev.azure.com” URLs? Matteo Emili shows you how to get them.

Creating a Windows Container Build Agent for Azure Pipelines Sure we provide build agents for you, hosted in Azure, but you can also run your own. If you want to, be sure to automate that configuration; Jakob Ehn shows you how to build a container with your build agent inside.

Azure DevOps: What is? If you’re just getting started with Azure DevOps, or if you’re only using one product like Azure Pipelines, you might not know all the different features. Samuel Luciano has a quick introduction to Azure DevOps and all it has to offer.

As always, if you’ve written an article about Azure DevOps or find some great content about DevOps on Azure then let me know! I’m @ethomson on Twitter.
