This month, we are releasing fixes that impact our self-hosted product, Azure DevOps Server 2019.

The following has been fixed with this patch:

  • Unexpected behavior while adding AD groups to security permissions.

In this version, we’re providing a fix to adding an active directory group, which did not show the permissions correctly unless you remove and add it back again.

Azure DevOps Server 2019.1.1 Patch 5

If you have Azure DevOps Server 2019 Update 1.1, you should install Azure DevOps Server 2019 Update 1.1 Patch 5.

Verifying Installation

  • Option 1: Run devops2019.1.1patch5.exe CheckInstall from a command prompt. devops2019.1.1patch5.exe is the file that is downloaded from the link above. The output of the command will either say that the patch has been installed, or that is not installed.

  • Option 2: Check the version of the following file: [INSTALL_DIR]\Azure DevOps Server 2019\Application Tier\Web Services\bin\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Services.Feed.Server.dll. By default, Azure DevOps Server 2019 is installed to c:\Program Files\Azure DevOps Server 2019. After installing Azure DevOps Server 2019.1.1 Patch 5, the version will be 17.153.30420.1.

Azure DevOps Server 2019.0.1 Patch 8

If you have Azure DevOps Server 2019, you should first update to Azure DevOps Server 2019.0.1. Once on 2019.0.1, install Azure DevOps Server 2019.0.1 Patch 8.

Verifying Installation

  • Option 1: Run devops2019.0.1patch8.exe CheckInstall from a command prompt. devops2019.0.1patch8.exe is the file that is downloaded from the link above.

After installing Azure DevOps Server 2019.0.1 Patch 8, the version will be 17.143.30426.2.

Are there any more details or documentation links to a developer community thread regarding what is being fixed? I’m interested in knowing the “unexpected behavior” as I have seen issues around AD groups in security groups. As-is, this release note is pretty poor.

Hi Matt, I appreciate your feedback. I’ve updated the release notes to address the point above. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks Sidi. That looks like an issues we’ve faced for a while that we had a work around for. Will be nice to give this a test once we take this patch.
