We’ve reached a major milestone in the rollout of New Boards Hub this week by making it the default experience for all organizations and users. While many users can still temporarily switch back if they encounter a blocking issue, our telemetry shows that 97% of users are staying on New Boards without reverting. This is a significant step forward!
Maintaining two versions of Boards is not a sustainable long-term solution, and our goal is to transition all customers to New Boards permanently. To that end, we’ve already disabled Old Boards for over 50% of organizations, and we’ll continue this process over the next two to three months.
🗓️ Migration Timeline & Expectations
The timing of your organization’s permanent transition to New Boards depends on its location. Many organizations have already been migrated. If your organization still has the option to revert to Old Boards, you can expect the transition to happen during one of the following time periods:
- March 10 – 21
- April 14 – May 5
By early May, all organizations will be fully moved to New Boards, and Old Boards will no longer be available.
📣 Your Feedback Matters
It’s not too late to share your feedback! I’ve been actively reviewing and responding to all submissions. However, please note that some design decisions, such as padding and spacing, will not change in the short term. These were carefully considered to align with the other Azure DevOps hubs.
That said, we are making targeted improvements based on user input. For example, we’re refining query results to maximize data visibility and reduce wasted space. It’s always a balancing act, but we’re committed to making meaningful adjustments where they add value.
If you have feedback, please submit an issue through the Developer Community site.
🙏 Thank you
Thank you for your time and patience throughout this process. It’s been a long three-year journey, and we’re excited to bring it to a close so we can focus on bringing new value to Azure Boards.
We appreciate your support and look forward to what’s next!

Hi Dan,
I need to build a board that allows the "coexistence" of Waterfall and Agile management work items.
So I'm using the CMMI process and created the User Story in it from Requirements.
I use Power Automate to create User Story or Requirements, depending on the management methodology (Waterfall or Agile).
For this to work, I mapped all possible states from the User Story to the Requirement, at the Requirement level of my process (CMMI).
My problem now is that I need to "omit" (hide) buckets according to the work item type created.
That is, if Power Automate has to create a Requirement, it will...
Not sure I understand the question. But you can programmatically setup the board columns.

Hi Dan,
I have a problem, when we create a new item on the board and select an option from a list field at the time of changing it, it no longer displays the inherited list.
Sorry Lorena, I am not sure what this means. Feel free to create a ticket at https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/ and post the ticket in this chat and I will make sure it gets reviewed. You can also email me directly
IMHO the rollout is too soon. I tried the new UI multiple times and always changed back to the old one... leaving a comment for improvements that were apparently of low priority.
Why?
Because the new UI looks good and thats about it. The UX is worse compared to the old one. Missing shortcuts and generally less usable if you want to control the UI with your keyboard instead of the mouse. So it does take longer to complete the same tasks compared to before.
Aside from taking longer, the new UI also takes up more space which results in a...
Thanks for the note, Christian. For some context, New Boards has been in preview for nearly three years. Throughout that time, we've actively communicated its availability through banners, pop-ups, blog posts, and other channels to ensure users were informed and had opportunities to share feedback.
We’ve taken a gradual rollout approach—first enabling New Boards by default for select customer groups while still allowing them to revert. At each stage, we’ve invited feedback to help guide improvements. Today, about 98% of our customers are actively using New Boards, and among our most recent rollout group, 96% chose to stick with it after...
Agree. I spend a lot of my day in Azure DevOps. The new boards experience is slower to work with. I've submitted feedback multiple times. Only one thing has been addressed, I can now copy the work item ID to my clipboard from the board view without having to open the work-item. Thanks for that one.
The new look wastes screen space, so I have to scroll more.
Things like linking work-items with children/parents is just a lot worse. If you type in the ID for the parent you want to associate, it often briefly flashes up in the picker below that...
Dan,
I did use the backlog settting rule for "Activates the parent work item when at least one child has been activated." and "Complete the parent work item when all children are completed."
So a created an Epic, then one Feature and finnaly an User Story (each a child of the previous one).
Then I closed User Story, the most elementary of child and open "Epic level" board.
I've got that error (which forced me to refresh the page):

You can try reloading this component or refreshing the entire page.
Sorry Carlos. I don’t really understand the issue. Please post the issue to https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com and make sure you do a full screen recording so we can see what you see.
