Visual Studio Online Update – Mar 10

Brian Harry
Corporate Vice President

Sorry for being a little late to the party this week.  We are rolling out our sprint 79 build to VS Online build this week.  You can read more about it here: https://www.visualstudio.com/news/2015-mar-10-vso.

I haven’t said anything about it explicitly but a while back we made the decision to increase our focus on burning down our UserVoice priority list.  This week we delivered the #3 item on the list with 2,203 votes.  Of course, we are also working on the #1 and #2 items.  But, that’s one very popular item delivered and 2,203 votes released to vote on something else 🙂  As Aaron notes in the release notes, there are some limitations (like support in Excel) but the feature works for many scenarios and we’ll polish it in the upcoming sprints.

The biggest improvements this sprint are in the kanban and task boards.  Lots of nice improvements and lots more on the way.  We’ve got several more months of heavy investments in the agile tooling planned.

We’ve about reached the point where all new VSO work won’t make TFS 2015 RTM but rather will start targeting TFS 2015 Update 1.  We’re beginning the process of locking down TFS 2015 and will ship a “go-live” preview (with Team Project Rename enabled :)) pretty soon.

Check it out and let us know what you think!  Everyone’s account should be updated by the end of the week.
