The Capabilities of Red Hat VM Images in a Pay-as-you-go Model for Azure Government

We are happy to announce that government customers can now deploy Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8 and 7.2 VM images in a Pay-As-You-Go model directly from the Azure Government Marketplace with per-minute billing.  This is following our partnership announcement with Red Hat in Azure Government on July 27th, 2016

What does this mean for consumers?

This means Azure Government customers will be able to use the secure region for their clouds along with the capabilities of the stable and trusted platform for critical IT infrastructure from Red Hat. The RHEL images are certified by Red Hat and have gone through extensive testing and certification that is required by the Certified Cloud and Service Provider program. The Pay-As-You-Go feature will also enable consumers to scale the services as needed for their work.

What about those who already have an existing Red Hat subscriptions?

For customers who have existing subscriptions with Red Hat and would like to run Bring-Your-Own-License style images, you will need to register your existing Red Hat subscription for Red Hat Cloud Access. Please follow the steps outlined here. You can also learn more about how to prepare your images to deploy into Azure Government here.
