Today, we are announcing the Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 6 (IL6) provisional authorization (PA) for Microsoft’s cross domain solution service, Azure Data Transfer. The IL6 PA provides authorization file transfer of software artifacts, associated files, and other restricted use data types, as well as Microsoft 365 documents and images.
Microsoft is the first cloud service provider to obtain this authorization while meeting National Cross Domain Strategy & Management Office’s Raise the Bar compliance requirements.
Azure Data Transfer’s capability to move software artifacts and restricted use data types is Generally Available for transfer from Azure Government to Azure Government Secret.
Azure Data Transfer is a cloud-native service that offers a fully automated drag-and-drop experience for users on the Microsoft Azure portal. Our service includes cloud-based content filters and scales on demand for all mission workloads. Finally, mission owners can have confidence in the transfer of their sensitive data across domains, given a hardware enforced one-way transfer and multi-region deployment for high availability and low latency.
The Azure Data Transfer team is prepared to support mission owners in progressing through the Government’s onboarding process, including completion of requisite Government documentation to ensure support of mission requirements. Azure Data Transfer’s portal experience also documents customer authorization to support cyber security and audit requirements.
The opportunity to transfer Microsoft 365 documents and images will be available for customer use on a Private Preview basis later this month and is tracking towards General Availability status by the end of summer 2023. Microsoft also has a robust roadmap of additional Azure Data Transfer capabilities – including different domain pairings and transfer of additional file types – to be released over the coming year, designed to seamlessly and securely meet mission demands.
