Agent Academy Spring Drop: Special Ops, Cowork Collective, and a Whole New Look

We’ve shipped a big round of updates to Agent Academy. Two new sections, a completely redone site experience, and more missions on the way. Here’s what’s changed.

Quick recap for anyone new

Agent Academy is a free, open-source curriculum for learning how to build agents with Microsoft Copilot Studio. Since launching in August 2025, it has crossed one million views, which tells us the community is hungry for guided, hands-on content around building and using agents.

Agent Academy features three ranks of full courses covering building agents with Copilot Studio: Recruit covers the fundamentals of Copilot Studio, Operative goes deeper into multi-agent systems, AI safety, MCP integration, and document generation, and Commander is on the way in the upcoming months.

Every rank is hands-on, every mission is scenario-driven, and the whole thing runs at your own pace. You use your own environment and your own licenses, free trials included.

What’s new: Special Ops

The core rank courses are your main program. Special Ops are something different: standalone, one-off missions that each focus on a specific skill or integration. You don’t need to be enrolled in any rank to try them. You can jump in, do the mission, and move on. Right now there are four Special Ops missions live.

Badge Mission What You’ll Learn
MCP Joker Badge image MCS ❤️ MCP Connect Copilot Studio to an MCP server and put it to work inside your agent.
Academy LearnMCP image Microsoft Learn Docs MCP Work with the official Microsoft Learn documentation MCP server inside your agent.
CommandLine Badge image Power Platform CLI MCP Build with the pac CLI MCP server and automate Power Platform tasks from your agent.
YAML Specialist Badge image YAML Specialist Master the YAML skills that keep showing up in agent configuration.

More Special Ops missions are coming. That’s the whole point of the format because we can keep adding targeted labs on specific topics without waiting for a full course to come together.

What’s new: Cowork Collective

This one is genuinely different from anything else in the Academy. Cowork Collective is a set of hands-on labs built around Copilot Cowork, which is currently available through the Microsoft 365 Frontier preview program. Copilot Cowork provides a way to delegate work across your M365 environment. You describe a task, Cowork plans out the steps, and you approve each action before it runs. It can send emails, schedule meetings, create documents, post in Teams, analyze files, and more, with 13 built-in skills and support for custom skills you store in OneDrive. The three missions launching today give you a real feel for what Cowork actually does in practice.

Badge Mission What You’ll Do
Badge Bandit Badge 🏢 Badge Check Start with a CSV of building access records, have Cowork identify employees who keep forgetting to badge out, and deliver a styled HTML report to your inbox.
Audit Ace Badge 🔒 The Compliance Packet Work through an audit scenario where Cowork pulls compliance documentation together and sends it along. The kind of administrative task that takes too long when done manually.
Vacay Badge 🏖️ Out of Office Handoff Have Cowork pull together your open items, draft the handoff, and set up the communications so you’re fully prepped before you go out of office.

More missions are being added as the program grows.

The UI got a serious overhaul

The site experience is better across the board. Here’s what actually changed:

  • Search is live. You can now find missions, content, and topics without manually digging through the navigation. This matters more than it sounds when the content library keeps growing.
  • There’s a Recent Changes page now. Every addition and update to the site shows up there, so you don’t have to check everything manually to stay current. Bookmark that page if you come back to Agent Academy regularly.
  • Every mission shows a last updated date. This is one of those small things that makes a real difference. You can tell at a glance whether you’re reading something fresh or something that might predate a feature change.
  • The Special Ops and Cowork Collective landing pages have proper filtering built in. This isn’t just an index page. You can filter by tags, product, and industry to find the mission that actually applies to your situation.
  • Light mode and dark mode are both supported now.

Badges For Each Path

Every path in Agent Academy comes with an official digital badge issued through Global AI Community. Recruit, Operative, and each Special Ops and Cowork Collective mission all have their own badges. When you complete a mission, you submit proof through the form on the mission’s completion page and badges are typically issued within 7 to 14 business days. The details are on each path’s badge page. These are real credentials you can add to your LinkedIn profile.

This keeps getting updated

Agent Academy is not a course that was built and left alone. The Power Platform Advocacy team actively adds new missions and updates existing ones as Copilot Studio and the broader platform evolve. The Recent Changes page is the fastest way to keep up. Go check it out at aka.ms/agent-academy to get started today.
