As part of Microsoft’s secure future initiative, we’re announcing the deprecation of the Microsoft Graph API to create an online meeting without a passcode. This API will be removed on October 31, 2027.

Microsoft Teams requires that online meetings are scheduled with a passcode and we’re aligning the Microsoft Graph API with that requirement.

What is the change?

Effective October 31, 2024, the default value of the isPasscodeRequired property will be `true` instead of `false`.

The isPasscodeRequired property on the joinMeetingIdSettings resource of the Microsoft Graph online meetings API will be removed on October 31, 2027.

What do you need to do?

Before the change is implemented in October, test your solution to make sure that it doesn’t break when isPasscodeRequired is set to `true`.

Going forward, make sure that your solutions for online meeting creation include the passcode requirement.
