Visual Studio Beta 1 and Visual Web Developer Express CTP are out!

19th of April we shipped Visual Studio Orcas Beta1. See Soma’s blog entry: . Downloads are here. This is also first time Express editions are available for download including Visual Web Developer Express. VWD Orcas Express download is bigger than in VWD 2005 Express largely because of the new HTML designer. Express editions are also considered a CTP rather than Beta1.

There are two known issues in the Web Tools in Beta 1. The affect both Visual Studio and VWD Express

1. CSS editing tools may appear disabled. Workaround: copy CSS21.XML file from Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedOFFICE12SCHEMASCSS to Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 9.0Common7IDE and restart Visual Studio.

2. Some HTML Designer UI may appear in English in localized versions of the Beta1. There is no workaround for this issue unfortunately.

If you wish to provide feedback, you can use Microsoft Connect site. Select Visual Studio there. There is no separate entry for Orcas or Visual Web Developer, but don’t worry, we will receive your feedback. Alternatively, you can post feedback in ASP.NET forums for the Visual Studio Orcas.
