.NET Conf 2024 Recap - Celebrating .NET 9, AI, Community, & More

At .NET Conf 2024 we celebrated the official launch of .NET 9 alongside groundbreaking announcements across the entire .NET ecosystem and a deeper dive into the world of .NET for developers worldwide. Organized by Microsoft and the .NET community, the event was a huge success, providing .NET developers with 3 days of incredible, free .NET content. For the first time ever, this year also included a bonus “day 4” of YouTube premieres following the initial 3 days, which brought even more great content to .NET developer.

If you have been wondering if James really did walk all the way across the new bridge on the Microsoft campus for the keynote, he did! With help from Cameron and Maddy they recorded one continuous cut for the keynote, and while we did walk slow and steady for the recording it actually takes around 5 minutes to walk across the bridge at a standard pace.

This year, we streamed 92 sessions over 4 days with most of those sessions delivered live.

Day 1 featured the official release of .NET 9, including a 1-hour keynote and sessions led by the .NET team to introduce new features and enhancements related to .NET 9 including topics like .NET Aspire, AI, .NET MAUI, web development, Visual Studio, and more.
Day 2 provided a deeper dive into .NET capabilities, continuously broadcast for 24 hours to reach all time zones.
Day 3 was a continuation of the 24-hour broadcast, offering a wide range of sessions from speakers around world.
Day 4 was a new “bonus” addition this year, which included pre-recorded YouTube premieres that included a range of topics from the .NET community.

We partnered with Chevron Phillips Chemical Company to showcase their migration story with .NET and Azure. We presented the slide below during the keynote at .NET Conf 2024 and also had their Cloud Architect Manager present live at our .NET session at Ignite.

KPMG

KPMG is another company we have been partnering with to promote the positive outcomes of utilizing .NET and Azure, specifically for KPMG Clara. We showcased the below slide in the .NET Conf keynote.

Xbox

The Xbox team recently started using .NET Aspire in Xbox services as they are going through a large migration to the latest .NET. They shared how .NET Aspire has helped them speed up and tighten their inner development loop.
