May patches for Azure DevOps Server

Gloridel Morales

This month, we are releasing fixes that impact our self-hosted product, Azure DevOps Server.

The following will be fixed with this patch:

  • Inconsistent Test Results data when using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.TestManagement.Client.

Azure DevOps Server 2020.0.1 Patch 3

If you have Azure DevOps Server 2020.0.1, you should install Azure DevOps Server 2020.0.1 Patch 3.

Verifying Installation

  • Option 1: Run devops2020.0.1patch3.exe CheckInstall from a command prompt, devops2020.0.1patch3.exe is the file that is downloaded from the link above. The output of the command will either say that the patch has been installed, or that is not installed.

  • Option 2: Check the version of the following file: [INSTALL_DIR]\Azure DevOps Server 2020\Application Tier\bin\Microsoft.Teamfoundation.Framework.Server.dll. Azure DevOps Server 2020.0.1 is installed to c:\Program Files\Azure DevOps Server 2020 by default. After installing Azure DevOps Server 2020.0.1 Patch 3, the version will be 18.170.31228.1.

    Hello Gloridel,

do you have any ETA on the Azure DevOps Server Update 1 release?

      @Gloridel: Would be VERY interesting

Hi Gloridel, I’d also like to know this, it’s been almost a month since the RC2 was released. Would be nice not to have to apply this patch then a few days later apply Update 1

Hi Necati, Markus and Andre, we plan to release early this summer.

        Thanks, much appreciated!

We are currently on 2020.0.1 Patch 1. If we upgrade to Patch 3, do we also have to apply the manual steps from Patch 2? (AzureResourceGroupDeploymentV2 and AzureResourceManagerTemplateDeploymentV3 task installations)
Patch 3 notes don’t say anything about these two steps from Patch 2

Sidenote: the release notes about 2020 Update 1 do not mention any bugfixes. Maybe someone could add them to the release notes.
    Thanks in advance

Hi Michael, yes you have to apply patches for the tasks that were released in April. Regarding release notes for Azure DevOps Server 2020 Update 1, this version is a release candidate and we don’t path release candidates. This is why you don’t see release notes for patches for this version of the product.
