We have released Azure DevOps Server 2022 RC2. This is our last planned prerelease before our final release of Azure DevOps Server 2022. You can upgrade from Azure DevOps Server 2022 RC1 or previous versions of TFS and Azure DevOps. You can find the full details in our release notes.

We’d love for you to install this release candidate and provide any feedback at Developer Community.
I tried to install RC2 using the iso on a fresh installed windows 2022 evaluation core. Setup does not start.
It works only with desktop experience.
Hello Gloridel. The previous version 2020.1.1 when used with SQL Server 2019 would set the database compatibility level to 2016. When we tried RC2, it did not automatically update the compatibility mode (for the SQL Server 2019 databases) to 2019. Do you know if Azure DevOps Server 2022 is (or will) support full native database modes for SQL Server 2019 and SQL Server 2022?
Bruce,
Azure DevOps Server 2022 RTW will support SQL Server 2022. The database compatibility level will stay at 130 (SQL Server 2016) in the RTW release, but we are planning to increase compatibility level in the upcoming releases.
Thanks,
–Vladimir
Thank you Vladimir. I assume it goes without saying that SQL 2019 is also compatible with Azure DevOps Server 2022 RTW. When you increase the compatibility, will it be in stages such as 150 and then 160 perhaps, and will we need to intervene and set these levels in existing installations, or will applying the updates automatically set the Configuration and Collection databases to the optimal level? Thank you – Bruce
Hi Gloridel, is RC 2 still based on features up to sprint 205?
Hi Michael. Yes, it is still based on features up to sprint 205.
Will RTW stay on 205? How frequently with Server get feature updates?
