If your development machine is still running Sierra (10.12) or older, you’ll need to plan to update to High Sierra before you can use the latest Xcode. We recommend planning these updates in advance, so there aren’t any unexpected surprises when the previews make it to a stable release. To make it easier, all the Xamarin products already support High Sierra, so you can update as soon as possible. As always, take precautions when performing system updates and backup your machine, important files, and documents. Updating now will ensure that your development machine is ready for Xcode 9.3 and the latest Xamarin.iOS version.

Download the Web Preview

If you’d like to test your application with the latest versions of Xcode, we’re providing a compatible Xamarin.iOS package as a web preview. You can install this on a Mac with macOS 10.13 or higher to use Visual Studio for Mac with Xamarin.iOS with Xcode 9.3 beta.

Xamarin.iOS

Visit the release blog to download the web preview of Xamarin.iOS. Next, install the downloaded package on your Mac running macOS High Sierra.

Xcode

Finally, the latest Xcode beta can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center. Log in to your developer account and visit the Downloads section. Once Xcode is downloaded, extract it and move it to the Applications directory. In Visual Studio for Mac, visit Preferences > SDK Locations > Apple and change the path for Apple SDK to the newly installed Xcode-beta.app file.

You’re all set to set to start running applications with Xcode 9.3!

Feedback

Participating in web previews is encouraged and we highly appreciate it! Your feedback on these previews directly helps impact the next release of Visual Studio and Xamarin.iOS. For bugs or issues with Xamarin.iOS, please visit the GitHub repository.
