Additionally, we are introducing preliminary support for new SDKs that Google has released, including Android Wear, Android TV, and brand new Support Libraries.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-12444\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2019\/04\/Android_Robot_200.png\" alt=\"Android Robot\" width=\"150\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"color: #555555\">Installing our Android L Preview<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"color: #4e5758\">\n<li>With this release, a Java JDK 1.7 is now required to properly compile applications. You can download one for your system <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/technetwork\/java\/javase\/downloads\/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html\">from Oracle website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Update your Android SDK Tools to 23.0.2 from the Android SDK Manager<\/li>\n<li>Install Android SDK Platform &amp; Build-tools to 20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12429\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2019\/04\/SDKTools.png\" alt=\"Android SDKTools\" width=\"710\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #4e5758\">\n<li>Download the Android L and Android 4.4W SDKs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12430\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2019\/04\/Android-L-Preview.png\" alt=\"Android L Preview SDK Download\" width=\"711\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #4e5758\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/developer.xamarin.com\/recipes\/cross-platform\/ide\/change_updates_channel\/\" title=\"How to switch channels in Xamarin Studio\" style=\"color: #3498db\">Switch the Xamarin Studio Updater channel<\/a>\u00a0to the \u201cAlpha\u201d channel.<\/li>\n<li>Install the Xamarin.Android\u00a0and Xamarin Studio updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Android Wear<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-12447\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/44\/2019\/04\/AndroidWear-158x300.png\" alt=\"Android Wear\" width=\"106\" height=\"200\" \/>When Google announced their new wearable platform, Android Wear, last March, they only made a new library for enhancing existing notifications available.<\/p>\n<p>At Google I\/O, an official developer SDK to create full-featured applications capable of running on an Android Wear device was unveiled. With this release, Xamarin developers will now enjoy the same ability.<\/p>\n<p>We are also making available the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Wear\/\" title=\"Android Wear Library on Nuget\">Android Wear UI Library preview on NuGet<\/a> to include in your wearable apps. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v4\/\" title=\"Android Support v4 Library on NuGet\">Android Support Library v4<\/a> was also updated to include many of the new Android Wear interaction APIs, such as NotificationCompat and RemoteInput.<\/p>\n<h3>Android Support Libraries<\/h3>\n<p>Not only did the Android L Preview come in with a new series of core APIs, it also brought a large update to the Android Support Libraries set.<\/p>\n<p>Along with\u00a0Android Support Library v4 updates, additional Support Libraries are now in preview release, including great new features such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v7.RecyclerView\/\" title=\"RecyclerView\">RecyclerView<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v7.CardView\/\" title=\"CardView NuGet\">CardView<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v7.Palette\/\" title=\"Android Pallet NuGet\">Palette<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v17.Leanback\/\" title=\"Android Leanback NuGet\">Android TV Leanback<\/a>, and update to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuget.org\/packages\/Xamarin.Android.Support.v13\/\" title=\"Android Support Library v13\">Support Library v13<\/a>.
