We previously enabled <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/level-up-your-collaborations-with-the-pull-request-experience-in-visual-studio\/\">viewing your pull request comments<\/a> inline in your working files. Now, the latest update empowers you to add comments directly within the IDE, streamlining the review process. Now, pull request reviewers can conduct deep reviews with the navigational power of the IDE and stay in their focused environment.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m232fB40BC8?si=0CGTX5UPODozXT0u\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We heard <a href=\"https:\/\/developercommunity.visualstudio.com\/t\/VS2022-171-Git-Pull-Request-is-gone\/1576559\">from your feedback<\/a> that the web experience for reviewing pull requests can only go so far. When you need to <em>really <\/em>understand your colleagues&#8217; proposed changes, it&#8217;s best to checkout their branch and use the navigation and build tools in VS. Once you\u2019re on their branch and you\u2019ve identified some feedback, you can add the comment directly without having to map it back to the code in the web. This extends previous functionality where you could view and reply to only existing comments.<\/p>\n<h2>Enabling this feature<\/h2>\n<p>To start using the new commenting feature, first ensure you have enabled the feature flags:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tools &gt; Options &gt; Preview Features &gt; Pull Request Comments <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools &gt; Options &gt; Pull Request Add Comment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once these are activated, checkout any branch with an active pull request and click on <strong>Show comments in files<\/strong> in the InfoBar to activate the pull request comments experience in the editor. Alternatively, you can enable comments by using the top level menu Git &gt; ADO\/GitHub &gt; Show Comments in Files or from the PR dropdown menu next to the view all commits link in the Git Changes window.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-252768\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/03\/word-image-252766-2.png\" alt=\"Git Changes window showing Branch has an active pull request.
