{"id":16585,"date":"2018-02-13T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T18:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/?p=16585"},"modified":"2019-02-14T15:23:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-14T23:23:59","slug":"accessing-visual-studio-previews-in-azure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/accessing-visual-studio-previews-in-azure\/","title":{"rendered":"Accessing Visual Studio Previews in Azure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/2018\/02\/08\/visual-studio-2017-version-15-6-preview-4\/\" rel=\"noopener\">our most recent post<\/a>, the Visual Studio team announced the availability of Visual Studio 2017 Version 15.6 Preview 4.\u00a0 Today, I\u2019m excited to announce you can now access the latest Visual Studio previews in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/azuremarketplace.microsoft.com\/en-us\/marketplace\/apps?search=visual%20studio%202017%20preview&amp;page=1\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure Marketplace<\/a>. \u00a0Just boot a virtual machine and off you go with the very latest features (standard VM charges will still apply).<\/p>\n<p>With this new offering, we\u2019re putting the power of virtual machines to work for developers, making Visual Studio previews even easier to try. By accessing Visual Studio previews in Azure, you can get a new machine up and running in less than 10 minutes, and rest assured the preview won&#8217;t impact any other current implementations. The latest features, workloads and each workload\u2019s recommended components are already set up in Azure \u2013 just waiting for you to boot a VM and get coding!<\/p>\n<p>In Azure, you find two virtual machine images with the latest Preview installed. \u00a0The Marketplace workflow makes it quite easy to provision a VM from these or any other image.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/VSAzureMPScreenshot1.png\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/02\/VSAzureMPScreenshot2.png\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/visualstudio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/02\/VSAzureMPScreenshot2-450x350.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-16635 size-mediumlarge\" style=\"border: 3px solid #eeeeee\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our current preview of Visual Studio 2017 is Version 15.6 Preview 4; images will be updated in the marketplace as we release new Previews. (Note: although the name\/label of the image won\u2019t change, our team will update the image\u2019s description so you can see exactly which Preview version you\u2019re getting.)<\/p>\n<p>In the Azure Marketplace, you&#8217;ll also find the current production releases of Visual Studio 2017 and 2015, which include the same recommended product install.\u00a0 Virtual machines based on these images are amazingly fast to stand up, and enable access to your production dev box from any location with an internet connection for simplicity and ease.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t have an Azure account?\u00a0 No problem.\u00a0 You can <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/free\/\" rel=\"noopener\">create a free Azure trial account<\/a><span>,<\/span> and use the free credits to provision a new Preview VM and explore interesting services. \u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/my.visualstudio.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Visual Studio subscribers<\/a> may have even more free credits available depending on your subscription.<\/p>\n<p>We hope you&#8217;ll try out the new features in the latest preview today!\u00a0 You can report issues to us via the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/vs-rap\" rel=\"noopener\">Report a Problem<\/a> tool in Visual Studio or you can share a suggestion on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/visualstudio.uservoice.com\/forums\/121579\" rel=\"noopener\">UserVoice<\/a>.
