Now you can easily download content published on <a href=\"https:\/\/msdn.microsoft.com\">MSDN<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\">Docs<\/a> for consumption on-the-go, without needing an active internet connection. We are also hosting the book generation and fetching services entirely on Microsoft Azure, which makes them more performant and reliable \u2013 we will be continuously updating the content, so you will no longer be stuck with outdated books and wait 6 months for the next release. The process to create and update an offline book now takes hours instead of months!<\/p>\n<p>The new offline books continue to integrate directly with Visual Studio, allowing you to rely on the familiar in-context help (F1) and many features of the Help Viewer, such as indexed search, favorites and tables of contents that mirror those of online pages.<\/p>\n<h2>Adding Help Viewer to your Visual Studio installation<\/h2>\n<p>Starting with Visual Studio 2017, Help Viewer is now an optional component that you have to manually select during installation. With the new Visual Studio installer, this is a two-click process: simply select <b>Individual Components<\/b>, and click on Help Viewer under <b>Code tools<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/20170419-VS2017-Offline-Books-Help-Viewer-Install.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"Visual Studio 2017 Offline Books Help Viewer Install\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/20170419-VS2017-Offline-Books-Help-Viewer-Install.png\" alt=\"Visual Studio 2017 Offline Books Help Viewer Install\" width=\"472\" height=\"456\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Available Books<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to your usual developer content, such as books covering Visual C#, Visual F# and others, we have added brand new content to the list, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ASP.NET Core<\/li>\n<li>ASP.NET API Reference<\/li>\n<li>NuGet<\/li>\n<li>Scripting Language Reference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these books are available in the <b><i>Manage Content<\/i><\/b> section of Help Viewer \u2013 click on <b>Add<\/b> next to the books that you are interested in and select <b>Update<\/b> at the bottom of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/20170419-VS2017-Offline-Books-Help-Viewer.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Visual Studio 2017 Offline Books Help Viewer Window\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/20170419-VS2017-Offline-Books-Help-Viewer.png\" alt=\"Visual Studio 2017 Offline Books Help Viewer\" width=\"1388\" height=\"926\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Feedback<\/h2>\n<p>We are constantly looking to improve our offline content story.
