My first language was BASIC, starting in 1984.  <\/span>I have been using VB since 2000, when I started using VB6.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

I work in the Public Sector for a political subdivision of the state.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

I write programs that interface with the database for CRUD operations; I write reports; I help the software interface with a company-wide GIS; some of the programs automate Word and Excel and Outlook.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\u00b7<\/span>        <\/span>What\u2019s the most interesting app you\u2019ve ever built?<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

A control program for a hydro plant that interfaced with two control boards.  <\/span>It was ported over from FORTRAN and is still working.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\u00b7<\/span>        <\/span>Please tell us about an app that you\u2019re working on at the moment.<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I am developing a program that allows our mobile users to input data and run reports from their laptops, then upload the data to the company’s database.  <\/span>The customers can view their information via the company website.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\u00b7<\/span>        <\/span>What other technologies do you most commonly use?<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I work with SQL Server, ASP.Net, PHP and Crystal Reports.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\u00b7<\/span>        <\/span>What are some of your favorite VB features?<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I like Auto-complete and not having to put a semicolon at the end of every line.  <\/span>I also like the .Net framework since everything is now truly object-oriented.<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7<\/span>        <\/span>What do you like most about VB as a programming language?<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

It’s simplicity and readability.  <\/span>I have used Java, C\/C++ and other languages but nothing beats VB.<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n
