Avalon CTP

Last week, MSDN subscribers were offered the Community Technology Preview (CTP) of "Avalon" (our unified presentation subsystem). As many of you know by now, Avalon is going to be available not only for Longhorn (the next major release of Windows) but is also being made available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Over the last few months, the "Avalon" team has worked hard to add support for non-Longhorn operating systems. "Avalon" requires a Beta 1 build of .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed. This CTP also includes an initial release of the WinFX SDK and Visual Studio 2005 templates for "Avalon". Some of you may have questions about interoperability between Windows Forms and Avalon. Click here to view an article on when to choose Windows Forms Control versus "Avalon" classes.

We would love to get your feedback on inter-op between Windows Forms and “Avalon”, Visual Studio 2005 support for “Avalon” or other “Avalon” features. You can send us feedback via the "Avalon" public newsgroup at nntp://Microsoft.public.windows.developer.winfx.avalon or via theContact Us link at the bottom of every page in the WinFX SDK.

Namaste!
