Today is the last Saturday of May, and therefore, it is PowerShell Spotlight day with MVP, Teresa Wilson…
Happy scripting Saturday, everyone. Today our Windows PowerShell Spotlight is on two events coming up in the next two weeks. First is the Cincinnati PowerShell User Group meeting on June 3. Ed will be the guest speaker at this event. I will be in the audience. For signup, time, and place information (and lots more, see at CincyPowerShell. But do you know that Windows PowerShell can help you with your problem? Here is a description of Ed’s talk:

In this session, Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, talks about using Windows PowerShell to perform data grooming. He shows how cleaning up names, street addresses, cities, states, and even zip codes by using basic string manipulation techniques. By focusing directly on the data transformation, he extracts principles that can be used in regards to the database or other data storage system. After focusing on the individual components of the process, he puts the whole thing into a single script to transform the sample data. This session is heavy with live demonstration.
Hope to see you there.
Next up is Saturday, June 13. We will be delivering the keynote and more at the IT Pro Camp in Jacksonville, FL. For more information and to register, see Jacksonville IT Pro Camp 2015. (EDT).
The location is:

Keiser University Jacksonville Campus
6430 Southpoint Pkwy
Jacksonville, FL 32216
I do not know what time Ed and I have our sessions, but the keynote is listed as 8:30-9:00 A.M. Later in the day, I will be speaking about user groups and Ed will be making two presentations. In addition to his Garbage in, Garbage out: Data grooming with Windows PowerShell talk, he will be presenting Windows PowerShell 4.0 Best Practices. Here is a description of that talk:

Learn Windows PowerShell best practices as they apply to each stage of the script development lifecycle. See the differences between working interactively from the Windows PowerShell prompt, writing an inline script, adding basic functions and advanced functions, and implementing Windows PowerShell modules. What is a local best practice for Windows PowerShell development is not the same as a global best practice, and this talk covers those differences.
Maybe we will see you there! Have a great weekend.
~Teresa
I invite you to follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
