I delivered two presentations and made dozens of new contacts and friends. The following day, Jeff Wouters took Teresa and me out and showed us around. On the way, Teresa made a new friend as seen here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/5305.TeresaAndHorse_4E944BD4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px\" title=\"Teresa and horse\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/5074.TeresaAndHorse_thumb_2B83DA64.jpg\" alt=\"Teresa and horse\" width=\"244\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, no trip to the Netherlands is complete without a picture of a windmill. So, here is the windmill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/8535.windmill_238C3802.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px\" title=\"Windmill\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/6472.windmill_thumb_00E7F987.jpg\" alt=\"Windmill\" width=\"194\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Teresa and I have known <a href=\"http:\/\/social.technet.microsoft.com\/Search\/en-US?query=jeff%20wouters&amp;beta=0&amp;rn=Hey%2c+Scripting+Guy!+Blog&amp;rq=site:blogs.technet.com\/b\/heyscriptingguy\/&amp;ac=8\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff as an active participant in the PowerShell community<\/a> for years. He has written guest blog entries and has been active in the Scripting Games. He is a great blogger and a tremendous Windows PowerShell advocate.<\/p>\n<p>So, we got on the train that evening and headed to Dortmund, Germany, where we were to spend the day with Windows PowerShell Guru Klaus Schulte. We took the time to visit a museum of an old coal mine. It was fascinating.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/6404.MineTower_5FF486DF.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px\" title=\"Mine tower\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/4331.MineTower_thumb_4C67273E.jpg\" alt=\"Mine tower\" width=\"244\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next day, we left and went to Geneva so we could visit Cern. It was well worth the trip. Here is Teresa playing with &ldquo;lightening in a bottle.&rdquo; It is cool the way it follows you around.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/7077.TeresaLightningCern_2B73B497.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px\" title=\"Teresa lightning Cern\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/5327.TeresaLightningCern_thumb_02F4D283.jpg\" alt=\"Teresa lightning Cern\" width=\"233\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The visit to the Atlas control room was awesome, and they gave a very interesting presentation.&nbsp; Here is a picture of me outside the control room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/6087.EdAtCernAtlasControl_41E6531E.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-top: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-left: 0px\" title=\"Ed at Cern Atlas control\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2019\/02\/3771.EdAtCernAtlasControl_thumb_37657EFE.jpg\" alt=\"Ed at Cern Atlas control\" width=\"244\" height=\"153\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the very interesting things about Cern is that they generate in one year 1 percent of the total data the world stores. That is a lot of data. They replicate the data to remote sites for coalition, and then finally to other sites for analysis. This sounds like a typical three-tier database application.
