We are now pleased to make these same PowerShell 4.0 updates available for <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/kb\/3119938\">Windows Server 2012<\/a> (KB3119938), <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/kb\/3109118\">Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1<\/a> (KB3109118), and <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/kb\/3109118\">Windows 7 SP1<\/a> (KB3109118) via <strong>WMF 4.0 Update<\/strong> packages. At this time, these update packages are only available by request through the aforementioned links.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/b\/powershell\/archive\/2015\/07\/28\/windows-management-framework-wmf-4-0-update-is-coming-your-way.aspx\">previously communicated<\/a>, these updates substantially improve stability, diagnosability, and reliability of PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) in Windows PowerShell 4.0. This update also brings enhanced PowerShell auditing functionality, and adds Software Inventory Logging (SIL) to Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and Windows 7 SP1 machines <strong>that already have <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=40855\">WMF 4.0 RTM<\/a><\/strong><strong> installed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note:<\/em> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=40855\">Windows Management Framework 4.0 RTM<\/a><\/strong><strong> is a pre-requisite for installing these packages. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please note that this is <strong>WMF 4.0<\/strong>.
