{"id":6536,"date":"2024-08-07T09:21:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T16:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/?p=6536"},"modified":"2024-08-07T14:31:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T21:31:30","slug":"timing-capture-bookmarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/timing-capture-bookmarks\/","title":{"rendered":"Timing Capture bookmarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting with the <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/pix-2408-05\/\">2408.05 release<\/a> of PIX on Windows, developers can add bookmarks, or annotations, to lanes in the Timeline layout of <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/timing-captures-new\/\">Timing Captures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bookmarks are text notes that can be added at either a specific point in time, or to a range of time, on any lane in the Timeline. These notes are used to annotate aspects of a capture that are interesting from a performance perspective. Bookmarks are saved in the capture, thereby allowing one developer to add a note for another developer to look at. The ability to save and share bookmarks helps developers collaborate on captures within a studio. The Summary layout provides a list of all bookmarks in the capture, along with hyperlinks to navigate to individual bookmarks in the Timeline layout.<\/p>\n<h3>Creating Bookmarks<\/h3>\n<p>To create a bookmark, right click on an item of interest in the timeline and select\u00a0<strong>Add Bookmark<\/strong>\u00a0from the context menu.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2024\/08\/pix-timing-capture-bookmarks-add.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6537\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2024\/08\/pix-timing-capture-bookmarks-add.png\" alt=\"Image pix timing capture bookmarks add\" width=\"708\" height=\"559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2024\/08\/pix-timing-capture-bookmarks-add.png 708w, https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2024\/08\/pix-timing-capture-bookmarks-add-300x237.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Doing so displays a bookmark dialog. Hovering over an icon displays a tooltip with a preview of the bookmark text. Select a time range then choose\u00a0<strong>Add bookmark<\/strong>\u00a0from the context menu to bring up the bookmark dialog. The bookmark dialog is opened in read only mode. Click the\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong> button to change the bookmark text.\u00a0 If a bookmark has been scrolled out of view, use the\u00a0<strong>Show Bookmark<\/strong> button to bring the bookmark back into view.
