{"id":2965,"date":"2017-07-25T23:08:09","date_gmt":"2017-07-25T23:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/pix\/?p=2965"},"modified":"2019-03-27T11:03:18","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T18:03:18","slug":"pix-1707-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/pix-1707-25\/","title":{"rendered":"PIX 1707.25 \u2013 counter rollup, new Dr. PIX experiments, pixel kill reason, and pixtool.exe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we released <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/pix\/download\/\">PIX 1707.25 beta<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New in this release:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GPU counter improvements\n<ul>\n<li>GPU counter values are now accurately rolled up from individual draws to their parent regions<\/li>\n<li>Added support for some AMD R5xx GPUs that did not previously work with PIX<\/li>\n<li>Improved accuracy of the crop__sol_pct and zrop__sol_pct counters on NVIDIA GPUs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Dr. PIX\n<ul>\n<li>Added a \u201cBandwidth\u201d page (currently only enabled on NVIDIA)<\/li>\n<li>Added a \u201cDepth\/Stencil\u201d page, which measures the performance impact of forcing early Z<\/li>\n<li>Adjusted the &#8220;Primitives and Rasterization&#8221; page to be more consistent with PIX on Xbox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Pipeline state improvements\n<ul>\n<li>Pixel history now displays a pixel kill reason (e.g. failed depth\/stencil test)<\/li>\n<li>Copy*, Clear*, and ResolveSubresource calls now correctly populate the pipeline state view<\/li>\n<li>Better formatting of resource barrier states when multiple flags are or&#8217;ed together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Timing capture improvements\n<ul>\n<li>Timing capture event list now shows fence and command queue synchronization events\n<ul>\n<li><em>Requires a recent Windows 10 Insider build (Fall Creators Update, aka RS3)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Added warnings view to timing captures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Added <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/pix\/pixtool\/\">pixtool.exe<\/a> \u2013 a command line utility for taking and analyzing GPU captures<\/li>\n<li>PIX now takes advantage of memory manager write watch to improve capture performance\n<ul>\n<li><em>Requires Windows 10 build 15063 or greater (Creators Update, aka RS2)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>This optimization is especially beneficial when capturing titles that persistently map large buffers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Added an option (in PIX settings) to skip killing the app before opening a GPU capture<\/li>\n<li>Bugfixes\n<ul>\n<li>MSAA array textures weren&#8217;t appearing correctly in the texture viewer<\/li>\n<li>PIX replay was throwing away calls to ID3D12GraphicsCommandList::DiscardResource<\/li>\n<li>False positive ClearDepthStencilView warning because optimized clear color values weren\u2019t being captured correctly<\/li>\n<li><em>(and more)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2019\/03\/drpix_bandwidth.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2019\/03\/drpix_bandwidth.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2975\" width=\"559\" height=\"548\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we released PIX 1707.25 beta.
