{"id":95475,"date":"2017-02-17T07:00:01","date_gmt":"2017-02-17T22:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/?p=95475"},"modified":"2019-03-13T01:06:21","modified_gmt":"2019-03-13T08:06:21","slug":"20170217-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/20170217-01\/?p=95475\/","title":{"rendered":"Follow-up: The bus that straddles traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2010, the world was amazed at the <a HREF=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2010\/10\/straddling-bus-coming-to-america\/\">traffic-straddling bus<\/a>, whose inventors announced plans to begin work &#8220;as soon as 2011&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>And then the world forgot about this invention that left them so breathless just moments ago. <\/p>\n<p>And then, in 2016, the world was amazed at the <a HREF=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.co.uk\/cars\/2016\/08\/china-has-built-a-crazy-elevated-bus-that-straddles-traffic\/\">traffic-straddling bus<\/a>, which conceded that it currently just runs &#8220;back and forth on a short, straight stretch of road.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>And then the world forgot about this invention that left them so breathless just moments ago. <\/p>\n<p>Well, it turns out that the <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/world\/asia\/la-fg-china-straddling-bus-2016-story.html\">traffic-straddling bus<\/a> is sitting abandoned over half of a four-lane road. Shortly after the announcement in 2016, the company was accused of swindling its investors. The company stopped answering the phone.
