\nWhile having lunch with my colleagues a few days ago,\nthey complained that they get annoying email for all their\ncalendar events.\n<\/p>\n

\nI mentioned,\n“So turn off the email notifications.”\n<\/p>\n

\n“You can do that?” they replied, incredulous.\n<\/p>\n

\nHere’s how you do it.\n<\/p>\n

\nFirst, go to\ncalendar.live.com<\/a>\nand sign in to your calendar.\n<\/p>\n

\nIn the upper right corner of the screen, click on the gear icon.\n<\/p>\n\n\n

\nFrom the drop-down menu, select Options.\nFrom the Options page, select the calendar you want to change.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nIn the Calendar settings, untick the checkboxes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Notifications<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Email notifications<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Get reminders for events and tasks\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Get daily agenda\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\nAnd then click Save to save your changes.\n<\/p>\n

\nMy colleagues also noted\n“It used to mean something when somebody remembered your birthday.\nBut now, everybody gets a notification on your birthday,\nand you get birthday wishes from random people you haven’t talked\nto in years.”\nWhich led to the next complaint,\n“I just want to turn off the birthday calendar.”\n<\/p>\n

\nNo problem.\nGo back and click on the gear icon,\nand instead of selecting Options,\nlook under Filter Calendars<\/i> and\nuntick the check box next to Birthday calendar<\/i>.\n<\/p>\n

\nIf you have a Windows Phone,\nyou can remove it from your phone calendar by\nopening the Calendar app,\nopening the appbar,\nselecting settings<\/i>,\nand then unticking the check box next to\nBirthday calendar<\/i>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
