\n\nFor<\/A>\n\nmany<\/A>\n\nyears<\/A>,\nI’ve put together a\n\nlittle pocket guide<\/A>\n\nto the Seattle Symphony<\/A>\n\nsubscription<\/A>\n\nseason<\/A>\nfor my symphony friends to help them decide which\nticket package they want.\nIn the years that have passed since I started doing this,\nnearly all of the members of the group have started families,\nand we tried things like splitting tickets,\nbut even that became difficult to maintain,\nand last year, we ended up not ordering any tickets at all.\n(Well, no tickets for adults.\nWe did buy tickets to\n\nkids concerts<\/A>.)\n<\/P>\n

\nI compiled the\nat-a-glance season guide for the 2013\/2014 season anyway,\nbut I didn’t bother adding my comments since we know we’re\nnot ordering any tickets.\nMoreover, the Seattle Symphony created online playlists\nwhere you can listen to the pieces in the upcoming season,\nso you can decide for yourself whether you like them or not!\n<\/P>\n

\nFor those not familiar with the Seattle Symphony ticket package line-ups:\nMost of the ticket packages are named Masterworks nX<\/I> where\nn<\/I> is\nthe number is the number of concerts in the package, and the letter\nindicates which variation.\nTicket packages have been combined if they are\nidentical save for the day of the week.\nFor example, 7C and 7D are the same concerts;\nthe only difference is that 7C is for Thursday nights, while 7D is\nfor Saturday nights.\n<\/P>\n

\nThe WolfGang<\/I> series is available only to members of the\n\nWolfGang club<\/A>.\nIt also includes two concerts not listed above (Opening Night\nand Sonic Evolution).\n<\/P>\n

\nThis chart doesn’t include “one-off” concert series such\nas the Mainly Mozart or Distinguished Artists series.\nA “one-off” series is a concert series which shares no concerts\nwith any other series.\nThis year, the\n\nBeyond the Score<\/I><\/A>\nmultimedia concerts fell into that category.\n<\/P>\n

\nAccording to the Seattle Times<\/I> article,\nthe new music director has\n“always dreamed of spending a whole evening with a composer,”\nand he went big this year, with\nthree concerts consist of multiple works by a single composer.\n<\/P>\n

\nSymphony trivia:\nThe audience for the\nSunday afternoon concerts (series 7G) leans toward\nwhat we in the United States euphemistically call\nsenior citizens<\/I>.\nI find it interesting to see what those sweet old ladies\nget put through every year.\nFor example, this year, they get a performance of\nCarmina burana<\/I>,\nwhich will probably offend half of the audience and\ndelight the other half.\n<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
