{"id":42383,"date":"2003-09-29T03:40:00","date_gmt":"2003-09-29T03:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/2003\/09\/29\/back-from-europe\/"},"modified":"2003-09-29T03:40:00","modified_gmt":"2003-09-29T03:40:00","slug":"back-from-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/20030929-00\/?p=42383","title":{"rendered":"Back from Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>         Here are some things I learned in Sweden, Germany and Denmark.      <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>             If you are an airplane pilot, you should avoid communicating on the emergency frequency             unless you have an actual emergency.          <\/li>\n<li>             In Sweden, marmalade comes in a flexible tube that looks like a really fat sausage.          <\/li>\n<li>             Swedes can&#8217;t handle spicy-hot food.          <\/li>\n<li>             Road warning signs are blue-and-yellow in Sweden, but red-and-white in Denmark.          <\/li>\n<li>             You can drive really, really fast on the Autobahn.          <\/li>\n<li>             Never drive in the left lane of the Autobahn unless you are actively passing somebody.          <\/li>\n<li>             When you ask at the cafeteria, &#8220;Gibt&#8217;s Fleisch dabei?&#8221;, and the guy says, &#8220;Nein, s&#8217;gibt             kein Schweinfleisch&#8221;, don&#8217;t assume that he understood your question.         <\/li>\n<li>             If somebody at Oktoberfest challenges you to drink your one-liter Ma&szlig;bier in twenty             seconds, you should decline.          <\/li>\n<li>             If you vomit at Oktoberfest, they charge &euro;25 to clean it up.          <\/li>\n<li>             You really don&#8217;t need to know that much information about lignite mining.          <\/li>\n<li>             Parking in Copenhagen is free on Sunday.
