Even if you don&#8217;t own a boat, you can enjoy the warmer weather and <a href=\"http:\/\/seattlepi.nwsource.com\/getaways\/313860_shorttrips03.html\"> rent a canoe<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/seattlepi.nwsource.com\/getaways\/217951_arboretumpaddle31.html\"> paddle around the Arboretum<\/a>. (Don&#8217;t do it on Opening Day, though.)\n Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwoc.com\/rental\/arb_detail\/index.htm\"> a nice map<\/a> courtesy of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwoc.com\/\"> Northwest Outdoor Center<\/a>. Pay heed to avoid the green section marked <i>Caution<\/i>. I made a wrong turn and ended up in the Caution area, and I found myself slogging through very shallow water.\n Assuming you avoid the shallows, it&#8217;s a very pleasant experience. Commune with the ducks and other birds. Pull over at one of the beaches and take a lunch break (assuming you remembered to pack lunch).
