{"id":111871,"date":"2025-12-15T07:00:01","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T15:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/?p=111871"},"modified":"2025-12-15T08:42:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T16:42:13","slug":"20251215-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/oldnewthing\/20251215-01\/?p=111871","title":{"rendered":"Misunderstanding what the Cricket Celebration Bowl is"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apparently, late last week was an event known as the <a title=\"Cricket Celebration Bowl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecelebrationbowl.com\/\"> Cricket Celebration Bowl<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I thought to myself, &#8220;The Cricket Celebration Bowl sounds like the name of the least popular item on the Panera menu.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And no, it&#8217;s not a cricket match either.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out it&#8217;s an American college football game between the champions of two collegiate leagues, named the Celebration Bowl, but sponsored by Cricket Wireless, making it the Cricket Celebration Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Safeco Field, the local Seattle baseball stadium, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/19156119\/seattle-mariners-selling-toasted-grasshoppers-concession-stand\"> included grasshoppers on the menu<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@ACwords\/july-6-crickets-and-baseball-with-karl-c77bb75f513a\">sometimes popularly misidentified as crickets<\/a>).
