{"id":1843,"date":"2009-03-16T14:22:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-16T14:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/odatateam\/2009\/03\/16\/ado-net-data-services-v1-5-ctp1-now-available-for-download\/"},"modified":"2009-03-16T14:22:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-16T14:22:00","slug":"ado-net-data-services-v1-5-ctp1-now-available-for-download","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/odata\/ado-net-data-services-v1-5-ctp1-now-available-for-download\/","title":{"rendered":"ADO.NET Data Services v1.5 CTP1 &#8212; Now Available for Download"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two weeks ago <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/astoriateam\/archive\/2009\/03\/01\/announcing-ado-net-data-services-v1-5-ctp1.aspx\">we announced<\/a> the ADO.NET Data Services v1.5 release.&#160; Today we&#8217;re very happy to say CTP1 of&#160; ADO.NET Data Services v1.5 is now available for download.&#160; You can get the bits by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyID=3e3d4eaf-227b-4ad3-ad0d-3613db8aa9df\">clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This first CTP release is intended to allow exploration, prototyping and early development.&#160; It is not supported and is not for use on production systems. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting Started<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get started with the v1.5 CTP1 bits, check out the&quot;getting started&quot; video below.&#160; The video walks through what is provided in CTP1 and how to get a simple project up and running quickly.&#160; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upgrading an Existing Project to Use v1.5 CTP1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To upgrade an existing server-side data service project to use this CTP you&#8217;ll need to replace all System.Data.Services.* assembly references with Microsoft.Data.Services.* references.&#160; Next edit the markup of the .svc file for the existing data service to point at the Microsoft.Data.Services.dll assembly.&#160;&#160;&#160; At this point, rebuild the project and your done &#8212; the project is now upgraded to use this CTP.<\/p>\n<p>If you have an existing client project, the easiest way to upgrade existing service references is to delete the reference and then re-add it following the steps outline in the video above.&#160;&#160;&#160; <\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s Included in this CTP?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For an overview of the new features in this first CTP, see our <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/astoriateam\/archive\/2009\/03\/01\/announcing-ado-net-data-services-v1-5-ctp1.aspx\">prior post announcing the v1.5 release<\/a>.&#160; In addition, we will create feature-specific blog posts over the coming days to explain each feature in more detail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CTP1<\/strong> <strong>Frequently Asked Questions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Q1: What are the prerequisites?<\/p>\n<p>A1: See the CTP download center page here for a list of prerequisites, supported operating systems, etc?<\/p>\n<p>Q2: Does CTP1 install side-by-side with what is currently on my development machine? <\/p>\n<p>A2: By in large this install is side-by-side with existing VS 2008 SP1 and .NET Fx 3.5SP1 bits; however, that was not possible in all cases so some .NET and VS files will be modified by the CTP1 installer.&#160; The files should be replaced to their original state during uninstall of this CTP.<\/p>\n<p>Q3: Does this CTP work on Windows 7?<\/p>\n<p>A3: The CTP1 installer will install the runtime components only on Windows 7.&#160; Client code generation is not yet enabled by the CTP1 installer on Windows 7. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Giving Feedback<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have created a new forum dedicated to providing feedback on &quot;pre-release&quot; versions of data services such as this CTP.&#160; Please direct all your questions about the release and its features to this forum which is available at: (<a title=\"http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/dataservices\/threads\" href=\"http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/dataservices\/threads\">http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/dataservices\/threads<\/a>).&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Note: The forum intended for questions on currently shipping versions of ADO.NET Data Services is still available at: <a title=\"http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/adodotnetdataservices\/threads\/\" href=\"http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/adodotnetdataservices\/threads\/\">(http:\/\/social.msdn.microsoft.com\/Forums\/en-US\/adodotnetdataservices\/threads\/<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the release!<\/p>\n<p>-Mike Flasko<\/p>\n<p>ADO.NET Data Services, Program Manager<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two weeks ago we announced the ADO.NET Data Services v1.5 release.&#160; Today we&#8217;re very happy to say CTP1 of&#160; ADO.NET Data Services v1.5 is now available for download.&#160; You can get the bits by clicking here.
