In the hybrid work era, people need to co-create and collaborate on\u00a0<\/span>documents\u00a0<\/span>from wherever they are.\u00a0<\/span>With more than 250 million monthly active users,\u00a0<\/span>Microsoft\u00a0<\/span>Teams and Office have become fundamental to the way people work. And we want to <\/span>ensure our customers can\u00a0<\/span>collaborate on documents<\/span>\u00a0no matter where they are stored.\u00a0<\/span>Since<\/span>\u00a02015,\u00a0<\/span>hundreds of<\/span>\u00a0partner<\/span>s\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>built integrations\u00a0<\/span>with Office<\/span>\u00a0through<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Cloud Storage\u00a0<\/span>Partner Program<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> (CSPP). So,<\/span> today we’re <\/span>announcing several<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>new ways for Cloud Storage Partners to integrate their services<\/span>\u00a0with Office and Teams.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Real-time co-authoring in Office on desktop, web, and mobile<\/h2>\n

We’re introducing the ability for <\/span>select\u00a0<\/span>CSPP partners to enable real-time co-authoring on Office desktop and mobile apps<\/span>, in addit<\/span>i<\/span>on to the\u00a0<\/span>existing<\/span>\u00a0web-based Office Online integration<\/span>. This\u00a0<\/span>enables\u00a0<\/span>users\u00a0<\/span>to co-author\u00a0<\/span>Word, Excel<\/span>,<\/span> and PowerPoint <\/span>documents\u00a0<\/span>simultaneously\u00a0<\/span>whether they are working in Office on<\/span>\u00a0desktop, web<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0or<\/span>\u00a0mobile<\/span>, with all edits automatically saving to the third<\/span>–<\/span>party storage service.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This capability is\u00a0<\/span>now\u00a0<\/span>available<\/span>\u00a0in public preview<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>cloud storage providers\u00a0<\/span>who qualify for the CSPP+ program tier<\/span>, including<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Box,\u00a0<\/span>Citrix,\u00a0<\/span>Egnyte, and OpenText<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Partners who are interested in deeper integration with Microsoft 365\u00a0<\/span>can<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reach out to their account manager<\/span>\u00a0for additional information about the CSPP+ program.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Integration capabilities in Teams<\/h2>\n

Microsoft Teams provides a customizable workspace for\u00a0<\/span>bringing apps and workflows into chat, meetings<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and channel\u00a0<\/span>collaboration spaces<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>As part of Microsoft 365, Teams uses\u00a0<\/span>OneDrive<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>SharePoint<\/span>\u00a0as its default\u00a0<\/span>cloud<\/span>\u00a0storage option.\u00a0<\/span>We’re updating Teams to allow customers to <\/span>choose\u00a0<\/span>any participating C<\/span>loud storage partner like Box,<\/span>\u00a0Citrix,<\/span>\u00a0Dropbox, Egnyte,\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>OpenText<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>as the default file storage location for Teams<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Once enabled,\u00a0<\/span>Teams users can\u00a0<\/span>access,\u00a0<\/span>upload, and share files in Teams\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>hannels and\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>hats directly from their primary file<\/span>\u00a0storage<\/span>\u00a0app.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The integration also allows users to open, create and edit Microsoft 365 files stored in their default storage solution, directly in Office desktop or web apps, from Teams.<\/p>\n

Finally, users will also be able to access and view all their files in one place, right within Teams.<\/p>\n

Like the real-time co-authoring capability mentioned above, this capability is in public preview right now. We anticipate that it will become generally available by the end of this year.<\/p>\n
