{"id":24896,"date":"2025-10-30T05:34:45","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T12:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/microsoft365dev\/?p=24896"},"modified":"2025-10-30T07:07:23","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T14:07:23","slug":"sharepoint-framework-spfx-roadmap-update-october-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/microsoft365dev\/sharepoint-framework-spfx-roadmap-update-october-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"SharePoint Framework (SPFx) roadmap update \u2013 October 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We continue to be humbled by the incredible momentum of <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/spfx\">SharePoint Framework<\/a> (SPFx) and the growth it is driving with our customers and partners. <strong>There are tens of millions of users across the world using custom SPFx solutions on a daily basis in Microsoft 365<\/strong> \u2013 built by our customers and partners.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2025 we started a <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/microsoft365dev\/sharepoint-framework-spfx-roadmap-update-september-2025\/\">new monthly blog post series<\/a> aimed at providing more visibility on the SharePoint Framework plans. We are excited to provide an update on the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) roadmap with this October 2025 update.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPFx is a core part of the Microsoft 365 platform extensibility strategy<\/strong>, and we are excited to see the interest in the future investment areas which we continue evolving based on your input and feedback.\u00a0We have made a few minor adjustments to the previously shared roadmap, primarily addressing some schedule changes for the 1.22 release, given the additional time we needed to finalize the required work. We continue updating the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sharepoint\/dev\/spfx\/roadmap\">public SPFx roadmap page<\/a> within our official documentation to keep things updated with these monthly blog posts.<\/p>\n<p>We have received a lot of feedback and interest on the new <strong>SharePoint Framework Community Advisory Committee<\/strong> which was announced in the <a href=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/microsoft365dev\/sharepoint-framework-spfx-roadmap-update-september-2025\/\">September roadmap update<\/a>. We are excited to see the interest in getting more people involved in this committee and are working on a more structural plan for new people to join. We will share more details about that in early 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Roadmap<\/h2>\n<p>We are evolving towards a quarterly release cycle, providing more predictability on new feature introductions and updates. We will update the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/sharepoint\/dev\/spfx\/roadmap\">public roadmap<\/a> with any schedule and feature updates as we move forward in this journey.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the set of investments which we are planning to ship within the upcoming SPFx releases:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Version 1.22 \u2013 November 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This version will provide us with a new modernized baseline which does not have any npm audit issues and has a future proven toolchain to continue building experiences.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Addressing <strong>npm audit<\/strong> reported security issues on the dependency tree.<\/li>\n<li>Transitioning from Gulp to an open webpack based <strong>toolchain<\/strong> orchestrated by Heft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Version 1.23 \u2013 February\/March 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This release focuses on open sourcing the templates and tooling to create SPFx solutions, enabling our ecosystem to optionally build their own templates. We also want to focus on providing additional value for optimizing developer experience and providing new extensibility options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open-sourcing SPFx <strong>solution templates via GitHub<\/strong> and opening them for community contributions.<\/li>\n<li>A new open-sourced <strong>SPFx CLI<\/strong> for replacing the existing Yeoman generator \u2013 You will be able to introduce your company specific templates or adjustments on the scaffolded baseline for the SPFx solutions. We are decoupling the CLI itself from the SPFx release versions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Command set improvements<\/strong> for lists and libraries \u2013 grouping and potentially other improvements.<\/li>\n<li>New and edit <strong>panel override in lists<\/strong> \u2013 support panel level override on the Microsoft Lists and SharePoint lists with SPFx.<\/li>\n<li>New <strong>debugging toolbar<\/strong> improving the in-page development experience when workbench is not used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Version 1.24 \u2013 May\/June 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This version continues providing new extensibility options aligned with the future direction of SharePoint. We are also expecting to have other new features and capabilities as part of this release, which will be disclosed a bit later.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Navigation customizers<\/strong> \u2013 Options to override navigation nodes and\/or experiences with SPFx components.<\/li>\n<li>Other features will be shared later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We also continue further innovation in the AI space<\/strong> with a focus on both customer features and developer tooling. More on this in future roadmap updates.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage you to continue <strong>providing feedback to support our product planning for the upcoming semesters<\/strong>. One of the key improvements will be a runtime debugging toolbar which helps developers to help build and test experiences directly in the existing pages and other UX areas.<\/p>\n<p>This new debug toolbar will be visible to developers when they are debugging locally hosted code on SharePoint.
